2D Style

In the clips below from the animated film  'Ice Age' they have used both 2D and 3D within the film, while the majority of the film is 3D animated, Manny's (the mammoth) backstory is shown through a 2D animation with a caveman drawing esque art style, the animation itself is not smooth and fuild but more hazy and rough.

It helps show the era at the time, building into the world smoothly while effectively showing the characters backstory. It also shows the backstory in a more unique way then just having the flashback be the same type of style and animation.
